When do newborn sessions take place?

Newborn sessions should be scheduled between 4-14 days of birth. This is done for many reasons. Newborns this young are more likely to “curl up” and remain sleepy for the duration of the session. They are much more tolerant of being posed and moved around than a 3 or 4 week old. Almost all of the “sleepy newborn” shots you see here on the website were done with newborns 14 days old or younger. If your baby is older than 2 weeks, don’t worry, we can still capture beautiful photos we will need to skip some of the poses you see.

How do I book a session when I’m not sure when my baby will be born?

Let US know your due date. Once your baby is born, let me know as soon as possible (ideally within the first couple of days and absolutely before baby is 7 days old) and we will select an actual date. If you do not contact me within that first week, I cannot guarantee availability before the 2 week mark, so please contact me sooner.

Where does the session take place?

Sessions only take place in my photography studio. Please check our contact info for directions.

Can siblings and parents be in a few shots?

Of course! I do recommend that siblings and parents want to be in the photos with the baby, come in the first 30 minutes of the session. The session does last a couple hours and little ones tend to get cranky having to wait around (my little one would too!).

Do you provide the props/accessories?

YES! Most of the cute props, headbands, outfits and hats you see in my portfolio are available at the studio for you to use during your session. I am always adding to my collection so there is never a shortage of cute new things to choose from.

How long does a session last?

Newborn sessions often run long due to the nature and frequent nurturing of the infant, expect a minimum of 2 hours. I do not rush the session, I let baby take as many breaks as needed. Baby’s comfort and safety is my number one priority. Children’s Portraits and Cake Smashes run about 45 minutes long. Babies don’t have a long attention span and 45 minutes is plenty of time to capture those precious moments. Adult Portrait sessions are one hour long but it can vary depending on if more than one adult is included in the session.

Anything else I should bring?

A pacifier-the greenish kind they have in hospitals. These are GOLD in keeping them asleep! Once you book, I will send you a full detailed information kit with everything you’ll need for session date.

What if my child is sick?

Please reschedule if your child isn't feeling like him/herself. Sick kids and photo sessions just don't mix. We want to make sure we capture your child’s REAL personality.
